↞ FORBIDDEN ROMANCE ↠
Forbidden romance adds a certain spice to role-playing your character, especially with the cultural traditions we've added in Highland Tails such as the trial systems. Because we're only allowing x amount of forbidden romances at a time, we want to ensure the players involved are actively following our guidelines.

FORBIDDEN ROMANCE GUIDELINES
01. ACTIVITY
If you're going to take a slotted spot, make sure you're active enough to keep it. Failure to remain active with an ongoing forbidden romance will get your slot revoked.
02. PLOT IT OUT
Know how the Forbidden Romance is going to begin, and how it will end - as all forbidden romances do end. There are a variety of ways a forbidden romance can end, but you must also consider what your characters will do if they are caught. Feel free to craft up your own plot in your applications!
In your applications, we are more or less looking for a timeline for the forbidden romance. You can make minor changes as time goes on and you both get ideas, but make sure you alert staff when doing so.
03. KITS
If kits are involved in the forbidden romance, you must disclose if the couple will want kits in your form. You must decide beforehand if the kits are split or kept entirely in one clan. If the mother leaves and gives birth at the border OR decides to split the litter, all players (including kits) must roll to see if you get caught. You can also opt to get caught if you want to be caught.
Additionally, if a cat is known to be pregnant and her kit's go "missing", the clan may decide to take measures to go on scouting patrols, and ask their rival clan about missing kits. If the mother is found guilty of abandonment, she'll likely be exiled from her clan.
04. ROLLING SYSTEM
To keep it realistic, all couples must roll each time they meet AFTER their SECOND meeting. The longer the forbidden romance goes on, the higher your chances are of being caught. The first two meetings, you must roll a 1d10, and get a 5+ to not get caught. Your characters can choose to make excuses, such as making it seem like a random encounter. The theme would be the more they are "found", the more suspicious your clanmates will become. However, after the fifth meeting, you must roll a 1d20 and get a 15+ to not get caught. If you're caught, a clanmate can report you to your leader, and it will result in a grand trial.
05. NOT FIRST COME FIRST SERVE
Applications are not first come first serve. We want to ensure that all forbidden romances are plotted out and the development for the characters is as intended. However, if your application is well written you're more likely to be accepted. If not, staff will work with you and help you come up with plots for your FR.
FORBIDDEN ROMANCE FORM
01. DM THE FORM TO STAFF
Please DM your Forbidden Romance form either through DISCORD or the WEBSITE to STAFF. This is so that forbidden romances are found out naturally through the roleplay, vs the community knowing straight off a forbidden romance is happening.

02 EXAMPLE FORM
Forbidden Romance Application
Player #1 Username & Character:
Username1, Rookcall of CragClan
Player #2 Username & Character:
Username 2, Sagewillow of WarrenClan
Kits?: Yes. We want two kits, and both kits will be WarrenClan.
Start of Romance:
Rookcall and Sagewillow meet at a chance encounter at the border, with Rookcall initially being outwardly aggressive. After Sagewillow talks him down, he decides that perhaps not all WarrenClan cats are bad. In the beginning, they don't have regular meetups and only meet at gatherings to talk. After the second gathering, they decide to have their first meeting, with the intentions of getting to know eachother more. At this meeting is when the two of them realize they like the other, though neither act of those feelings just yet.
Mid Romance:
After realizing their feelings for one another, Rookcall and Sagewillow decide to plan their meetings in advance at each gathering. At these meetings, they often teach eachother about their clans, while also getting to know eachother and their favorite things. While their romance is a slow-burn, it is a bit of a whirlwind romance. When Sagewillow discovers she's expecting, she eagerly tells Rookcall at their next meeting, although she does not expect his reaction at all. The tom goes quiet. He asks Sagewillow what she plans to do, to which the she cat responds that she will raise them in WarrenClan. She also admits that they must end their romance - for their kit's sake. It would only put them in danger. At least until they were apprentices. Rookcall leaves angry, leaving a sad Sagewillow at their meeting place.
End of Romance:
Rookcall, hurt that Sagewillow would keep their kits from him. Little does Sagewillow know that Rookcall has gotten closer to his clanmate, Silverstone. The tom proposes to Silverstone and she accepts. Fairly shortly after, Silverstone announces she's expecting kits - much to the clan's delight. The romance ends here, with the character development weighing on Rookcall's "abandonment" of his former mate and kits and the discovery that he has taken Silverstone as his mate and made his own family. The kits could find out later on their true parentage through their mother or by other means.
Do They Get Caught?: We are open to getting caught towards the tail end of the romance, preferably.
If Caught: If caught early on, both cats will deny knowing one another. If caught mid romance, Sagewillow will deny it initially, but may eventually own up to her own mistakes. Rookcall, on the other hand, would deny the kits are his but admit to meeting Sagewillow. He would likely say something along the lines of "I would never be a mate to a WarrenClanner.", which would further split their relationship. If sent to a grand trial, Sagewillow would admit to seeing Rookcall and admit the kits are his, due to her moral compass. Rookcall, however, with his new mate, would deny the allegations and denounce Sagewillow - calling her a liar and that he would never betray his clan in such a way - especially since he was in a loving relationship with Silverstone.
Reason of Romance: We wanted to create an interesting dynamic for multiple characters, such as Rookcall's new family vs his WarrenClan family. This character development would be unique for both characters, as it starts out like any romance but ends due to the inability for Sagewillow to leave her clan for Rookcall.
